Maybe someone can help, please.
I've been working on a Masterpiece. It's going well. Taking my time and being very careful.
My question is about Step 15. After installing 8 diodes on T3 and T4.
The instructions say "Solder B and D terminals" (I pasted below). Does that mean:
A) Make sure that terminals B and D are each well-soldered, but not connected. B and D are the terminals with TR1 wires and diodes in them. Probably means to solder all of that together solid.
B) However, it could means to connect B and D together (with a jumper) but I do not think so.
If someone could please confirm that would be great. I have soldered A, B, D and E on T3 and T4 very well I think. I also attached a picture of my T4.

The instructions say to solder a terminal when there are no further connections required for that terminal. At step 15, T3 / T4 B and D are complete. All other terminals will have connections later in the build, for example you will connect a 6800 mf-10v cap to a and e on both terminals.

Step 31A, B calls for 1000mf-25v I have two 1000uf-25v caps. is it Ok to use those for step 31? Thanks very much! Drew Attached Images

That was a dumb question. I see that mf and u(as in greek letter mu) are the same. So 1000 uf and 1000mf are equivalent.

Drew, there are only friends here. There are no "dumb" questions. Better to ask than guess at something you are unsure of!

I had a lot of fun over the holidays with this project. What a cool project this has been. Well, as of tonight, it's finished . . . I really took my time and was super careful with every step. Buttoned it all up after checking through one last time. Turned on the power . . . (very exciting moment!) The relay did not click at all. (I expected to hear a noticeable click after 3 or 4 seconds; is that how it should work?) All 4 tubes glow and get very warm. No unusual sounds or smells. I get sound through the headphone jack but it's very weak. Didn't try the preamp outs yet. I can turn the volume up to full and it's not very loud. I wonder if I might have a defective relay. I opened it back up and checked all my relay wiring and looks perfect to me. If the relay doesn't click in I wonder how I get any sound at all. Thanks again for any suggestions. Drew Attached Images

Pull the relay out and see if the sound comes back.

With relay out there is good strong sound, however it is mainly or all in the right channel.

Still trying to figure this out . . .
- very weak sound with relay in and no click. - With relay out, only get sound in right channel (and light hum in left). Tonight I was checking everything and noticed that the 10000uf 6.3v cap on the relay socket is definitely pushed up. (blown?) I'll attach a picture. I wonder what would cause that and how I should fix it. Thanks again. I really appreciate any advice. Drew Attached Images

what is that yellow wire just hanging there, near the cap (i see it in all you pictures)? It doesn't look terminated (one end looks attached to the relay), and I don't have it in my pictures of my build.

I do have a yellow wire on the relay...but I can't see where it lands, but it is definitely not on the top of the timing board

Yes, you do seem to have miswired the timing board. The green wire from the timing board should go to relay terminal 13. The yellow wire from the timing board should go to relay terminal 14 The gray wire from the timing board should go to IC4 pin 2. From your pictures the green and yellow wires do not seem to be wired as above. Kelvin

Unfortunately I'm at work; will check again this evening. With a magnifying glass . . . I think you guys are suggesting that I reversed terminals 13 and 14. Carson, the yellow wire is actually the one coming from the timing board. I'm almost positive anyway. It looks like it's laying there by the cap unterminated but I think it's coming out of the board. I soldered it to what I thought was term 14 I'll confirm though! I really appreciate the help. Drew Attached Images
